John Bruss Joins BCI as Commercial Project Manager

Bruss Construction, Inc. is pleased to announce that John Bruss of Green Bay, WI will be joining the Bradford-based construction firm in January, 2003. John Bruss brings over 20 years experience in large commercial project management, having extensive knowledge and expertise in commercial and industrial projects in the $3-15 million range.

"The addition of my brother John will add to BCI's ability to handle larger projects while still maintaining the small company, family feel to our organization," says Jim Bruss, Vice President of Bruss Construction.

Bruss Construction Wins Two ABC Excellence Awards

Bruss Construction, Inc. of Bradford, NH has received two awards presented by the Associated Builders and Contractors NH/VT Chapter. In the Under $2 million Commercial category, Bruss Construction took top honors receiving the Award of Excellence for their construction project for the Society for the Protection of NH Forests in Concord, NH. Bruss was also received the Award of Excellence in the Under $2 million Institutional category for their project at the Caterbury Shaker Village Visitors Center.

"We are honored to be selected to receive these prestigous awards from ABC. Over the past several years we have been building more projects at high levels of sustainable design” says Jim Bruss, Vice President of Bruss Construction. “Companies are realizing the immediate and long-term benefits of this type of construction.” The major renovation for the Society for Protection of NH Forests in 2001 utilized sustainable designs and techniques which won a Gold Level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. A historically sensitive project, the Visitors Center at Canterbury Shaker Village which Bruss Construction completed in 2001, was a reconstruction of a former Shaker warehouse and shipping depot known as the Horse Stand. The interior needed to fill a variety of functions including orientation and reception space, classrooms, visitor services, rest rooms and offices.

An awards ceremony, where Bruss Construction received their awards, was held at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord on October 24th.

Bruss Construction to Build Conference Center for The Rocks Christmas Tree Farm

Bethlehem, NH - Bruss Construction, Inc. of Bradford, NH has been selected to provide construction management services to the The Rocks Christmas Tree Farm in Bethlehem, NH . The Rocks Christmas Tree Farm is a unique tree farm growing trees on protected land, owned and operated by the Society for Protection of NH Forests. The farm utilizes a combination of forest, Christmas trees, wetlands and open areas while practicing good farming techniques and preserving wildlife habits and scenic vistas.

The conference center constuction project will consist of adding life safety, energy efficiency and general modernization work to the existing historic building as well as an addition which will provide much needed classroom and conference space to the facility. Work on the energy efficiency aspects is currently underway on site with the remaining work to commence in January, 2003. “Over the past three years we have been building more projects at certain levels of sustainable design” says Jim Bruss, Vice President of Bruss Construction. “Companies are realizing the immediate and long-term benefits of this type of construction.”

Expanding Supermarket Chooses Bruss Construction for Remodeling and Additions

Bruss Construction Inc of Bradford, NH has been awarded the construction contract for remodeling and additions to the Cricenti’s Supermarkets in New London, NH.

The project will consist of adding approximately 8500 square feet of additional retail space to the existing grocery store as well as a new entry, canopy and parking area. The existing interior will also be refurbished. Scheduled to begin in October, the project is expected to be completed in May 2003. The project is being designed by SFC Engineering of Manchester, NH

Bruss Construction Helps Build Bank,One Branch at a Time

Bruss Construction, Inc. of Bradford, NH has been selected to provide design build services for a new Lake Sunapee Bank branch in Andover. This project consists of an approximate 1500 sq. ft. interior renovation to an existing building as well as a 900 sq. ft. addition. The project is scheduled to begin in mid-September with completion scheduled for early 2003. This is the second branch for Lake Sunapee that Bruss has constructed.

Bruss Construction Renovating First Pioneer Farm Credit

Bruss Construction, Inc. of Bradford, NH has broken ground for the renovation and additions to First Pioneer Farm Credit in Bedford, NH. The project includes complete renovations of the existing space as well as a 1800 square foot addition which will house closing rooms, a conference room, as well as general office space.

The project was designed by The Architectural Studios and is set for completion in early winter.

Bruss Construction to provide Construction Management services to White Mountain Residence Hall Project

Bruss Construction, Inc. of Bradford, NH has been awarded the Construction Management Contract for the White Mountain School in Bethlehem, NH. The project consists of a 15,800 sq. foot Residence Hall, which will be completed as a Green Building applying high levels of energy efficiency with minimal impact design. The Residence Hall will consist of student housing for 30 students as well as four - two bedroom faculty apartments.

The architect for this project is Christopher P. Williams Architects.

Construction is slated to begin in July, with completion in April of 2003.

Bruss Construction to Renovate Office for Family Service Organization

Bruss Construction is pleased to announce the completion of renovations to the third floor of the Casey Family Services building at 105 Loudon Road in Concord, NH. The new 4800' sq. ft. facility was completed in 12 weeks and features offices, conference center, catering kitchen as well as counseling rooms for the family services provider. The project was completed on schedule and on budget. Project Manager for Bruss Construction was Warren Veysey. Bruss Construction has also been hired by Casey to do work to update and renovate other portions of the building. This work is scheduled for completion in mid June. Casey Family Services, a non-profit agency that provides long-term foster care and post-adoption counseling in Concord, NH.

The project consists of constructing a state-of-the-art multi-media conference center which will seat up to 100 people, allowing Casey Family Services to do a complete range of video conferencing, multi-media presentations as well as interactive counselor training. The construction will also include new offices, a reception area, file storage area, and ADA and life safety upgrades to 4800 square feet of new space.

The project is designed by Bruss Construction, Inc. and will be administered by BCI Superintendant Warren Veysey. Scheduled completion for this work is June 2002.

Bruss Construction to Build New Gymnasium for The White Mountain School

Bruss Construction Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been selected to construct additions and renovations to the gymnasium facility at The White Mountain School in Bethlehem, New Hampshire.

The project consists of a complete update of life safety requirements to the building, new mechanical systems, construction of a new nautilus fitness center, a state of the art rock climbing wall capable of holding up to 20 climbers at one time, new indoor running track as well as upgrades to the gymnasium entry and bathroom facilities.

The project is designed by the Architectural Studio of Enfield, NH and is being administered by BCI Superintendent, Brad Calhoun. Scheduled completion for this work is June 2002.

Bruss Construction to Rebuild Proctor Academy Hockey Arena

Bruss Construction, Inc. of Bradford, NH is proud to announce that they have been chosen as construction manager for the new Proctor Academy ice rink in Andover, NH. The two-phase project begins with the construction of the new rink building with associated mechanical rooms, storage rooms and spectator seating. Phase one is expected to be completed in late fall. Phase two, which will begin in the spring of 2003 with completion set for the spring of 2004, will consist of new locker rooms, athletic department offices and weight and nautilus training areas. The project is being designed by Christopher P. Williams Architects. Bruss Construction is not a newcomer to Proctor Academy having constructed two dormitories, the school’s dining facility and is currently building a new daycare center on campus.

Bruss Construction Helps Flash Photo Become First in NH!

Bruss Construction, Inc. of Bradford, NH announces the on time, on budget completion of renovations to Flash Photo in New London, NH. With this renovation Flash Photo becomes the first KODAK “Kix” Imaging Center in New Hampshire. The project included a complete renovation to the store’s interior including a new state of the art photo lab, front facade, lighting, complete new interior finishes, new retail fixtures, and new administrative offices. The 4200’ sq. ft. store was completely remodeled while open without losing a single day of business.
